Daily Meditation Blog
Well, last night couldn't sleep. And in the duldrums or whatever drums there were. So, I resigned myself to try a meditation, a longer one. No real enthusiasm for it, but did it out of duty and sense of "work."
Mostly Ramanama, with some kundalini stuff to bring in some extra energy for better concentration.
Wound up meditating for a few hours.
Man, what a difference. Slept better. Woke up with hope, freshness and a bit of joy (not a common experience for me).
My gal woke up early and said, hey let's get some breakfast together...something we rarely do during the work week. Had a nice warm time with my gal.
Even the waitress at the diner was especially nice (this is New Jersey, and that experience doesn't come easily).
The owner of the diner was there. Very serious guy, never see him smile. And, for whatever reason, I decided to tell him a joke. I used to do stand-up, but my chops are pretty rusty...and this guy was a tough audience. But somehow, I got in there and made this guy smile. I saw all the hard-edge countenance in him fade and this kind of "little boy smile" emerge.
It was really beautiful.
Then, I had this feeling of sweet sadness at the thought of the cloud of melancholy that is cast over our eyes at times..
seeming this
the child within
all-here-now-just-waiting-to-smile
The Mother of Heaven,
Mother to us all,
Just this, just gently wishing to evoke that smile,
and,
the tears when it is not so....
It was so clearly God, acting through me (because that stuff is clearly not the me that I usually am). And I know that the top of the tree is not the always-me and I will return down to the struggle. But nice to remember that my head can peek above the clouds now and then and remember, a bit, that we come from a Glory Within.
Namaste,
Jon

Wed, August 19, 2009 - 9:57 AMHey Jon, while you're up there, build a little tree house. Of course a few birds might move in but they might stay if you bring them shiny things....
Here's to your beautiful day!
Peace my brother,
